Correen Thornton, Bolton - Clipping Tuition Review

Mel met us with her cheery smile and they got to work right away. Taylor first learned all the health and safety implications and how to clean work dismantle and put together the two main types of clippers she would be using. Mel proceeded to explain very clearly how to cover the different areas of the horse with different clippers and how to treat each area differently because of the types of skin fur etc and how the horse would react to those parts of its body. Taylor also learned how to stand safely and how to watch the horses body language to stay safe when clipping. After watching Mel Taylor proceeded to clip which was amazing to watch after Mels instruction. Remember Taylor is only fourteen years old. This was brilliant to watch and under the watchful eye and helpful support from Mel the whole horse was completed in stages. I was to say the least incredibly impressed with Mels tuition which was targetted to suit my granddaughter just right. She did a good job after effective training and was taught to then check her own work systematically for any missed bits. Taylor also washed the horse with warm water making him comfortable and bringing out loose hairs and showing the clip at its best. I am so impressed that Taylor feels so very comfortable with her training she if confident to start clipping straight away. Mel also sent a feedback sheet and list of equipment and where to buy it from plus opportunity to ask more questions if needed. All through the session we asked questions and all were answered demonstrated and shown straight away Theres also follow up if needed and Mel is watching Taylor clip her own horse soon so no need to worry about can I do it?. The session was organised optimised and incredibly good. If you are still reading this then please please go for it. You will not find a more thorough knowledgeable or fantastic trainer anywhere. After one session my 14 yr old granddaughter can clip now thats going some!! Im happy to respond to anyone who needs to know more. Mel you are outstanding as a trainer and SIMPLY THE BEST! From one very grateful client and granddaughter read less

Vicky Hogkiss, Bolton - Confidence Building Success

I can’t even put into words how I feel about Melody and her talent. It’s not often I’m speechless. My mare has only been clipped twice and each time has been so stressful. She has had to be sedated and twitched on top of that. I’m not a fan of this at all, being into natural horsemanship, but as she is in a lot of work I had no choice. I contacted Mel as I heard about her introductory taster sessions and confidence building sessions. I thought let’s see nothing to lose. The minute Mel got out of her ... read more

I contacted Mel as I heard about her introductory taster sessions and confidence building sessions. I thought let’s see nothing to lose. The minute Mel got out of her car, I warmed to her. Her whole Aura oozed calm and tranquillity. She talked me through her different clippers and explained how she was going to try with slow/quiet clippers first. We chatted about her experience, whilst Lexi listened to the clippers and us calmly taking. To cut a very long story short, after an hour Lexi had not only a full clip but also some creative clipping. I don’t I have ever been as shocked in my life. The whole experience was calm, and to this day I don’t know how Mel did it. Whatever she has needs bottling!! Her knowledge of horses, combined with horsemanship skills are second to none. Mel has been back and clipped Lexi again and even got a whinny when she got out of her car. No fighting, no struggling, no nervousness, just a truly nice experience for me and my horse. Just wow. Not only has Mel become good friends with Lexi, through her wonderful personality, we have become friends as well. If you don’t have Mel to clip your horse, nervous or not you must be mad!!!! She is truly professional, talented and one very special lady.......Mel the horse clipping whisperer Vicky and Lexi PS, you’re stuck with us for the next 20 years!!! read less

Jill Parkinson, Mottram In Longdendale - General Clipping

It's not often I can say I have found someone who I trust 100% with my lad (Ty) Ty has Cushings and his coat grows quickly and thick he needs to be clipped every 12/15 weeks. Previous to using Mels services, Ty was clipped by friends ( for whom I'm grateful) but he looked like a patch work quilt as the clippers wernt the right ones for his coat. Approx 3.5yrs ago I saw an advert for Mel and thought we would give her a try and we have never looked back. Mel is a knowledgeable, kind, caring person . I've ... read more

I would happily leave Mel with my lad if I wasn't able to be there and would trust her to do the same great job. If you have a Cushings pony/horse, Mel is your woman to clip them. read less
